You don't know me (yet). But I bet you'll understand my story and how Twilight has completely and irrevocably changed me.
Dear Twilight Fan
My name is not important.
Or what I am.
Or how I came to Forks in the first place.
Really, there's only one thing you need to know about me. I'll get to that in a moment, but first I need to explain a few things.
My home is in Forks. I was in the same high school class as Bella, Edward and Alice. I watched their story unfold in front of me, day by day, month by month, year by year.
I watched in wonderment as they in fell love. I watched with sadness as Bella fell apart without her Edward. And I rejoiced as they were reunited.
I graduated with them. I went to the Cullen's graduation party. And I was a guest at their wedding.
But I, unlike the rest of their classmates or the rest of Forks for that matter, actually knew their secrets.
...and was a witness to the "real" story.
You see, it was easier than focusing on my own sad story. I've been unlucky in love – terribly unlucky. So unlucky I suspect love is not meant for me – my fate is to wander this life alone. And even more unfortunately for me, my life will last a very long time.
As you may have guessed, I have secrets of my own. That's why Bella, Edward and Jacob never mentioned me. I keep a very low profile. I have to. My survival depends on it.
To answer your question, yes, I did know Edward was a vampire. And I also knew what would eventually happen to Jacob. I knew because something similar happens to me. Like recognizes like. Always has, always will. But I digress.
I started humming, then singing, for no reason. But then it occurred to me: the songs I'd been singing—I had never heard them before. How could that be?
Getting back to the matter at hand, let me share with you the one thing you need to know about me. For the first time in years, in decades, I felt alive. Bella, Edward and Jacob did that for me. I had been sleepwalking through my long years until they woke me up. Their love did that. It brought me back to life. It inspired me like nothing had since the conclusion of my own sad love story.
I found myself almost happy for the first time in years. I would find myself smiling at nothing. I started humming then singing, for no reason.
But, then it occurred to me: the songs I'd been singing – I had never heard them before. How could that be? I wasn't a songwriter. Yet here I was hearing music in my head that had never been on a radio or CD. It didn't make any sense.
Day and night I heard the music. Songs I didn't recognize, but that didn't make them any less wonderful. They were beautiful, haunting. I found myself singing to them, then dancing, in the woods under the moonlight I couldn't get them out of my head.
Even more amazing, these songs were about Forks. About Bella, Edward and Jacob. Those songs described their stories, their feelings, their inner thoughts. Each time I heard that music I relived the lives of Bella, Edward and Jacob. Each time I felt renewed again. Inspired again. Alive again.
Where did those songs come from? There was no way I could have made them up—I wasn't that creative. So where did they come from?
Then one day I heard a name with the music. Mitch Hansen. Who was this Mitch Hansen? And why was his name in my head, along with this wonderful music?
Who is Mitch Hansen?
I couldn't stop thinking about it. I needed to know. No, I was desperate to know. What was this music? And who was Mitch?
Finally, I knew I had to leave Forks. I had to search out the source of this music. I had to find Mitch. I had to learn what was going on.
I ran like I had never run before. I ran for days, through woods, around lakes and streams. I avoided cities and highways and just ran.
I found the music would guide me. If I veered off course, the music would dim in my head. If I stayed on course, it would get stronger and clearer.
Until the day I ended up outside his house. Mitch Hansen's house. I could hear the music wafting out of room, it was about Jacob Black.
And I knew. He had called me here. With his music. Like a siren he had summoned me. And like me, he had been inspired by the story of Bella, Edward and Jacob. Except he had created music out of his inspiration.
I then discovered I wasn't the only one who had fallen in love with his music. He had put them on the Internet, so others could listen and be equally as inspired.
"About three things I was absolutely positive."
First, Edward was a vampire.
Second, there was a part of him – and I didn't know how dominant that part might be – that thirsted for my blood.
And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.
After reading that, he was hooked. (Probably, just like you were)
And I also learned more about his story. By day, he works in a bookstore. But by night, he writes songs and sings in a band. One day, he came across the book Twilight, where Stephenie Meyer first chronicles the story of Bella, Edward and Jacob. He read the quote on the back of the book...
He wrote and wrote night after night...
He was so hooked he decided to write songs that he compiled into an album called Twilight Hour. Those songs became very popular in the Internet underground. So popular in fact that fans started begging Mitch to release these songs to the world.
And Mitch listened. He took the words of his fans to heart. But being the artist that he is, before he released these songs on a CD, he took the music, remastered it, added strings, keyboards, drums, and a whole new song and NOW it's been renamed "Endless Day".
I'm sure most of you are wondering, "What would make a grown-up, family man write songs about Twilight?" Well, two things, really.
One, I love writing songs. I've been writing songs ever since I was 12 and could play three chords on the guitar. I've always loved music and putting melodies and harmonies on top of cool guitar licks. Its just a part of who I am. Anytime I pick up my guitar, I start scheming and trying out new ideas. I can't help it. My need to create music even keeps me up at night sometimes. Just ask my wife!
Two, the Twilight saga is awesome! This is really where the story starts. My day job put me in the path of an unknown book around August of 2007. That book was Twilight. I had never heard of it or anything about, so I turned it over and checked out the back. "Vampires!" I thought, "Cool!" I decided to give it a try and I was hooked instantly. I read all three books in about a week, which is a lot of reading for someone who doesn't read a ton. I got my wife hooked on them, too. We were both huge fans at that point and couldn't get enough of anything Twilight-related.

I know... many of you have already heard the underground, original songs. They've been distributed, downloaded, passed along and loved throughout the Internet.
I adore these songs. Personally, I love "Lullaby."
How could you not love these words:
Being made of stone will make you strong
But I've been alone for oh so long
Then there you were, a silent mind
With Beauty that I thought I'd never find
So, Why Am I writing To You Today?
Now YOU Can Own Your Own Copy Of Endless Day!
